A lot of people believe the government wastes money, I have actually seen the government wastes money, time after time, on the many committees I have been on. I see money poured into projects, like apprenticeships for personal assistants, which service no benefit to the average person.
If I run government, I would not simply cut costs, that too easy in the short term but more costly in the long run. I would set core goals for all government, like reducing crime and improving quality of life opportunities, and ensure every penny spent was connected to the wider aims and objectives with clear outcomes.
It is only by joining the dots and always looking ahead that we could have a government that was fully value for money.
