One talking about the Independent Living Fund, there is one point is has been ignored by many people but should be noted, which is the government early on in its administration was committed to maintaining the fund’s current level of fund for the full term of the parliament without fear of cut, while it took plenty of time to decide the future of the fund. I am not sure of any part of the government, particularly within social care, which was provided with these assurances.
It is therefore frustrating that the disability activists who now attack the government over the closure of the fund and not acknowledged the five years of assurance they were provided and demonstrates to me a level of arrogance which I personally fund unhelpful. The reality is nothing is forever and the government has certainly provided people with a great detail of notice in the respect to the fund.
