The main reason everyone cites as why so many disabled people should get DLA/PIP is because it is used to meet the extra costs of living and enables disabled people to be independent, but can the money really be used to buy independence? Even if for one minute make DLA an infinite amount of money, can you really simply buy a dropped curb for the pavement between you and the bus stop? Are you local councils going to have a free for all on street improvements?
Can you really buy improved attitudes? Can you buy yourself out of being wrongly labelled unfit for work? And so on. Therefore I feel unless there is specific personal need based on outcomes to be met, the money is better spent on improving society for everything including environmental and attitudinal barriers.
